Training
Ben is a much sought after and generous teacher. He leads the Crick Crack Club’s training programme, runs introductory workshops, specialist sector training, and longer residential courses.
He specialises in training storytellers for performance, and offers intensive weeklong courses in rural Herefordshire for small groups of students with a curriculum covering dramaturgical work on content and composition; language tool development which translate imagination into verbal communication and physical performance skills, including voice.
At the centre of his training approach are both the concept of ‘mantic’ storytelling – being able, through techniques of improvisation, to enter and re-enter the world of each story afresh, and ancient Indian ‘Rasa Theory’ – a system that puts the emotional relationship between audience and art at its heart.
