A world class performance storyteller and Fringe First award winner, Ben has an extensive repertoire of full-length performances and deeply researched and reconstructed folktales, fairytales, myths and epics. These are stories full of all the rich, complex and sometimes alarming experiences of being human.
Ben performs solo and with world-class musicians. His work is ideally suited for small and mid scale theatres. Ben is available for commissions and residencies.

The fairytales collected by the Brothers Grimm are like half remembered rituals – full of vitality, meaning and inklings, the importance of which remain tantalisingly out of reach. Gothic, stark and beguiling – Ben Haggarty ventures into the wild side of fairytale to haul four lesser-known Grimm tales out of the nursery and back into the dark and full-blooded realm of fairytales for grown-ups.

This performance is brimful of forbidden doors, magical transformations, betrayal, comeuppance, and talking skulls.

Maria Morevna! (Or how Prince Ivan got himself a horse)

When Ivan meets warrior princess, Maria Morevna, he has a lot of catching up to do…and inadvertently releasing Maria’s arch enemy isn’t a particularly good start. In this romper-stomper fairytale everything happens in threes; immortal monsters roam; super-witch Baba Yaga is a horse wrangler, and our hero Ivan will get himself both into, and out of, an awful lot of trouble.

Expect wild adventure, epic quests, and things only made possible by a hefty dose of magic for everyone 7-107.
