Ben is founder and Artistic Director of the legendary Crick Crack Club - the UK's premier performance storytelling promoter & programmer, and co-founded Beyond the Border International Storytelling Festival. The Crick Crack Club programmes over 100 shows a year for over 10,000 people, with a flagship London programme running at the Soho Theatre, Rich Mix, and Camden's Forge, and an annual Festival of Fairytales for Grown-ups.

Ben is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4 (most recently on Midweek, A Good Read, and The Today Programme), he was a researcher and consultant for Jim Henson’s ‘Storyteller' series on Channel 4, and featured in ARTE’s French television documentary on the global storytelling revival.

Ben is the storyteller for Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road ensemble in the USA - devising large scale international performances of stories and music for family audiences. He has a special interest in epic singing traditions and has presented Pandavani performers, Turkish praise singers, Manaschi, Japanese Kamshibai performers, Palagan and Patuagan storytellers, in the UK and the USA.
